Create a Social Timeline

1--> Head to the home page and log in to Facebook.
Be sure to use the email address you're registered with even if you have several addresses on your account.

2--> Go to the "My Friends" page using the convenient link.
You may already see the beginning of a social timeline immediately after adding just a few friends.
As friends add details about your relationships, the timeline will grow on its own.

3--> Add details to each of your friends by clicking the "Edit Details" or "How Do You Know" link near their names.
If you or your friend hasn't added any details yet you will see the "How Do You Know" link.
To create a social timeline, you must add the year to each of the relationship details.

4--> Select each of the ways you are connected to the person.
Choices like "Lived Together" and "Worked Together" ask for both a start and finish date.
The more specific you get with the dates, the more your social timeline will fill out.

5--> Click the "Request Confirmation" button when you are done making changes.
Your friend will be asked to confirm the details.

6--> Remember to confirm details when they are added by your friends,
new and old, so the information can be added to your timeline.

The more friends you have, the more evolved your social timeline will be.
Make sure you fill in the details for the friends you do have, including the year.

If you were a member of Facebook before it instituted the social timeline,
you must edit the details for all your friends to include specifics to create the timeline.

Head to the Help section for guidance with adding friends (see Resources below).

Don't except to see the timeline until you have several friends attached to your profile.

Whether details are confirmed or not, they will appear on your friends' profiles visible to their friends as well.
If you don't want people to know who you hooked up with or when you lived in a certain place, then erase any details you want to keep private.
